ABOUT GEORGE

George Miller specializes in Marine Photography with an emphasis on the documentation and daily activities in and around Rockland Harbor, Maine.

George's photos are displayed and for sale at the Maine Lighthouse Museum in Rockland. With a percentage of the proceeds going to the Museum. He has also produced a benefit poster bearing the image of the Rockland Breakwater Lighthouse. Numerous local businesses embraced this idea and now sell the poster.

George grew up in Harmony, Rhode Island in the 1950's. Living on a lake with a small marina, George grew to love the outdoors and especially the water. Spending time fishing, swimming, boating, and helping at the marina he began his passion for photography at the early age of 10 after receiving a camera for his birthday.

George and his wife Sandra live in Vassalboro, Maine. Come mid May they head to Rockland Harbor, living on their boat until mid October. Residing on the boat allows George a unique opportunity and perspective to document with his photographs the everyday activities in and around the harbor. Up before dawn, George will be out scouting vantage points for the coming day all in anticipation of that special photo.

George studied Photography at the University of Colorado, Photo Journalism at the University of Rhode Island, and Art at Rhode Island Junior College.

His photography and printing skills were further developed in the 1970's and 80's working with the Rhode Island Newspaper group (RING) as the feature photographer, photo editor, and lithographer for all 5 newspapers.
